FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's basketball picked up the season sweep of Long Beach State with its 85-82 victory on Wednesday night. The Titans have now won four straight games against the 49ers, the longest winning streak over LBSU since the 1997-98 and 1998-99 seasons when Fullerton also won four consecutive games.

As head coach Dedrique Taylor said, it wasn't always pretty, but the Titans completed the regular season sweep of LBSU for the first time since 2010. Fullerton led for 30 minutes of Wednesday's game but the 49ers trailed by two with the ball and eight seconds left. The Titans forced a turnover, made a free throw and then recorded a steal to secure the win.

The Titans shot 50% (28-56) from the field, 36.8% (7-19) from distance and 69% (22-32) from the stripe and out-rebounded the 49ers 42-25. Fullerton is 8-0 this year and 15-0 over the last two years when shooting 50% or better from the floor.

Junior forward Jackson Rowe recorded his fifth double-double of the season and the 15th of his career with his 15 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal. Junior guard Austen Awosika connected on three three-point field goals, a single-game career high, to score 17 points along with six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Senior guard Khalil Ahmad tallied 19 points, five rebounds and five assists. He's now scored 10+ in eight straight games and 12 of the last 13 games. Senior guard Kyle Allman, Jr. struggled from the field but still impacted the game with 11 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and two blocks. Freshman Wayne Arnold also scored 10 points, all in the first half, as Ahmad was sidelined with foul trouble, providing a big lift off the bench.

Fullerton returns to action on Saturday at 7 p.m. PT at CSUN.
