Conway, S.C. – Cal State Fullerton men's basketball won its final matchup at the Myrtle Beach Invitational on Sunday thanks to a career-high 40 points from senior guard Khalil Ahmad.

Fullerton did not trail in Sunday's game as Ahmad scored the team's first nine points and the squad never looked back. Ahmad had a historic day, setting career highs in points (40), field goals made (13, on just 22 shots) and three-point field goals made (8). He is just the fifth Titan to ever score 40 points or more in a game, joining Bobby Brown, Tre' Coggins, Josh Akognon and Kyle Allman, Jr. Ahmad's 40 points was the highest point total ever in a men's basketball game at the HTC Center, breaking the previous record of 36 set by Quinton Wood on Dec. 13, 2013. For his career, Ahmad is now up to 1,266 points, the 11th-best total in program history. He also chipped in five rebounds and tied a career-high with four steals.

Allman scored 13 points as the only other Titan in double figures. Junior forward Jackson Rowe had four points, 10 rebounds and a career-high four blocks. Junior guard Austen Awosika had eight points, four rebounds, seven assists, two steals and just one turnover.

In the 5:10 that Jamal Smith, Rowe, Awosika, Ahmad and Allman were on the court together during the game, the Titans outscored Monmouth 20-4.

The Titans were effective offensively as they shot 47.4% (27-57) from the field and 48.1% (13-27) from distance but the work was really done on the defensive end. Fullerton held Monmouth to just 31.6% (18-57) shooting from the floor and 14.3% (3-21) from three. The Titans also won the turnover battle has the Hawks committed 19 to just 15 for the Titans.

Fullerton's road trip continues as the team heads to New York to face Hofstra on Wednesday at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET.
