Men's Basketball Uses Second Half Push to Win 81-71 Over LBSU

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's basketball earned an 81-71 win over Long Beach State on Saturday night. The Titans trailed 29-27 at the halftime break but out-scored LBSU 54-42 in the second half to secure the win and improve to 16-10 overall and 9-5 in Big West play on the year.

The Titans shot 52.6 percent (30-57) for the game and 70.4 percent (19-27) in the second half as they surged to a comfortable victory over the 49ers (13-17, 7-7 BWC). CSF was also 15-17 (88.2 percent) at the free-throw line. The Titans were relentless going to the basket as they scored 44 points the paint. CSF recorded 16 assists and just 11 turnovers.

For the fourth straight game, junior guard Kyle Allman, Jr. scored more than 20 points as he had a game-high 25 points (8-13 FG, 8-9 FT). He has now eclipsed 20 points 12 times this season and in seven of the last eight games. He's connected on eight or more free throws nine times this year.

Junior guard Khalil Ahmad scored 15 points but also pitched in five rebounds and dished out a career-high 7 assists with just one turnover. He also recorded a block and steal. 

Sophomore forward Jackson Rowe battled foul trouble in the first half but finished with 12 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal in 25 minutes.

LBSU was led by Gabe Levin who had 18 points and four rebounds and Temidayo Yussuf with 13 points and eight rebounds.

Cal State Fullerton heads to Cal State Northridge on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. PT game. The Titans then return to Titan Gym for the final home game of the season on Saturday at 3 p.m. PT against Hawai'i.
