SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. --- Cal State Fullerton hits the road for the first time since mid-December as it rolls up to San Luis Obispo to take on Cal Poly.

Thursday, Jan. 12 | Mott Athletics Center The Titans will head out on the road for the first time since Dec. 18 to face the Mustangs. Cal Poly lost its Big West opener at UC Davis, 68-64, and have lost six straight games going into Thursday's game.

Head-To-Head:

The Titans and Mustangs first met on Jan. 21, 1961 and have played 54 times overall. Cal Poly leads the series, 37-27, and has an edge in NCAA Division I matchups, 22-19. 

Last Meeting:

Tre' Coggins led the Titans with 18 points as Fullerton dodged a last-second attempt by Cal Poly and secured a 78-77 victory in San Luis Obispo on Feb. 25, 2016.

The Titans face the Anteaters on the road Saturday with the game set to air on ESPN3. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.

Head-To-Head:

The Titans lead the all-time series against UC Irvine, 52-51, but have lost nine straight games to the Anteaters. Fullerton's last win over UC Irvine came on Feb. 9, 2012; a 100-94 win at Titan Gym. Fullerton swept the season series that year, scoring a 92-84 win at Irvine on Jan. 21, 2012.

Last Meeting:

Cal State Fullerton had four players score in double figures and led by six at halftime but the Anteaters outscored Fullerton 60-35 in the second half and cruised to a 96-77 win at Titan Gym. The Anteaters shot 76 percent (19-for-25) in the second half including 9-for-11 from beyond the arc.

TITANS AND CONFERENCE PLAY

Cal State Fullerton is in its 43rd season as a member of the Pacific Coast Athletic Association/Big West Conference and hold an overall record of 291-387 all-time. The PCAA changed its name to the Big West Conference in the 1988-89 season and since then, the Titans hold a 188-284 record.  Fullerton won regular season titles in 1975-76 (PCAA) and 2007-08 (Big West) and conference tournament championships in 1977-78 (PCAA) and 2007-08 (Big West). From 1967-74, CSF played in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and posted a 24-36 mark.

LAST TIME OUT - CSUN 70, CAL STATE FULLERTON 65

Cal State Fullerton was outscored by double digits in the second half and that was the difference as CSUN defeated the Titans, 70-65, in a Big West Conference tilt Saturday night at Titan Gym. The Titans (7-8, 1-1) were led by Lionheart Leslie's 17 points and Tre' Coggins added 11 but the Matadors (6-9, 2-0) had four players score in double figures scored 15 points off 15 Titans turnovers. The Matadors also grabbed 10 offensive rebounds and turned that into 10 second-chance points. 

LESLIE OFF TO A GOOD START

Senior Lionheart Leslie has gotten off to a solid start for Fullerton in Big West action. He's led the team in scoring in both conference games, averaging 15.5 points a game so far. He led Fullerton in scoring (17 points), rebounding (5) and assists (4) on Saturday against CSUN, just the second time this season a player has led the Titans in all three categories. The only other time that occurred was when Leslie led the team with 21 points, 10 rebounds and two assists at UNLV on Nov. 19.

FINDING THE RANGE

The Titans have struggled with the 3-point shot in two Big West games. Fullerton is shooting just 6-for-27 (.222) from distance to start conference play. The Titans were shooting .402 (37-for-92) from 3-point range in the four games prior to the start of Big West play.

SINGING (AND WEARING) THE BLUES

Cal State Fullerton will be looking for its first win away from Titan Gym and in their road blue uniforms this week. The Titans have gone 0-6 combined in road and neutral site games so far this season. The team has averaged 72 ppg in those contests but allowed 83.7 points a game. Fullerton is shooting just .314 (32-for-102) from 3-point range while allowing opponents to shoot .400 (54-for-135) from beyond the arc in away/neutral site games.

TITANS TEAM RANKS

The Titans lead the conference in blocks per game (3.9) and are second in total blocks (59). The Titans also lead the Big West and are ranked 13th nationally in defensive rebounds per game, pulling down 29.30 per game. Overall, the Titans lead the conference in rebounding at 39.53 a game, a mark that ranks 43rd in the country. Additionally, Fullerton is ranked second in the Big West in scoring average (76.6 ppg), field goal percentage (46%), and field goal percentage defense (40.4%).

Cal State Fullerton has outscored its opponents 506-365 in the paint this season. The Titans have been outscored on the inside just twice through 15 games.
