OPPONENTS & HISTORY

Hawai'i | 7:00 p.m. | ESPN3

Thursday, Jan. 5 | Titan Gym

The Titans host the Rainbow Warriors on Thursday night in the Big West Conference opener for both teams. In 2015-16, Fullerton played the 'Bows three times including in the first round of the Big West Conference Tournament at the Honda Center. The 'Bows are the defending Big West Conference regular season and tournament champions, the first time they accomplished that feat since joining the Big West in the 2012-13 season. Thursday will mark their first away game of the season as Hawai'i played its first 13 games in O'ahu.

Head-To-Head:

The Titans and Rainbow Warriors face off for the 14th time overall on Thursday with the 'Bows holding an 11-2 edge in the series. The Titans have lost 10 straight games to Hawai'i including all three in 2015-16 (two regular season, one Big West Tournament). Fullerton's last win over Hawai'i came on Nov. 16, 2008, 90-76, in Honolulu in a non-conference tilt, four seasons before Hawai'i joined the Big West.

Last Meeting:

The No. 8 seed Titans led No. 1 seed Hawai'i 30-29 with 17:33 left to play but the Rainbow Warriors ran off a 23-3 scoring run in a six-minute span to take control and eliminate Cal State Fullerton from the Big West Tournament, 75-44, in the first round of the tournament at Honda Center on March 10, 2016. The Titans trailed by just one at halftime but were outscored 48-18 in the final 20 minutes as their season came to an end.

CSUN | 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 7 | Titan Gym

The Titans will wrap up a stretch of four straight home games Saturday night against CSUN.

Head-To-Head:

The Titans and Matadors will meet for the 76th time on Saturday night with CSUN winning the last three meetings including a season sweep in 2015-16. It will be the 31st time the teams will meet in conference play with the Titans holding a 16-14 edge in those contests,.

Last Meeting:

Fullerton saw a nine-point second-half lead slip away as the Matadors used a 15-0 scoring run to surge ahead and eventually claim a 75-67 victory over the Titans at the Matadome to complete the season sweep. The Titans had four players tally double figures, led by Lionheart Leslie's 14 points to go along with nine rebounds. Khalil Ahmad added 13 points and three assists while Kyle Allman added nine points and a team-high three steals.

TITANS AND CONFERENCE PLAY

Cal State Fullerton enters its 43rd season as a member of the Pacific Coast Athletic Association/Big West Conference and hold an overall record of 290-386 all-time. The PCAA changed its name to the Big West Conference in the 1988-89 season and since then, the Titans hold a 187-283 record.  Fullerton won regular season titles in 1975-76 (PCAA) and 2007-08 (Big West) and conference tournament championships in 1977-78 (PCAA) and 2007-08 (Big West). From 1967-74, CSF played in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and posted a 24-36 mark.

PRESEASON PREDICTIONS

Khalil Ahmad and Tre' Coggins were both named to the Big West Media Preseason All-Conference Team. The Titans' guard combo matched the most players on the team by one school along with Long Beach State. In addition, the Titans were picked to finish sixth in the conference this year, receiving 83 total points in the Big West Conference Media Preseason Poll. Long Beach State received 19 first-place votes and 203 points overall as the favorite to win the conference.

LAST TIME OUT - CAL STATE FULLERTON 99, BETHESDA 56

Jackson Rowe recorded his second straight double-double as Cal State Fullerton wrapped up non-conference play with a 99-56 victory over Bethesda Friday night at Titan Gym.

The Titans (6-7) had five players score in double figures, led by Tre' Coggins' 24 en route to victory over the Flames (6-8), who were held to 24.1 percent shooting including a 23.5 percent clip from beyond the arc.

ROWE AND CLARE ON THE BOARDS

Jackson Rowe had a Fullerton season-high 16 rebounds and Davon Clare added 11 boards for his third straight game with double-digit rebounds against Bethesda. It was the second straight game the duo each grabbed double-digit rebounds in a game. On Dec. 22 against Portland, the two became the first Titans combo to grab double-digit rebounds in one game since March 3, 2012 when Omonde Amoke and Orane Chin grabbed 13 and 10 boards respectively against Long Beach State. Rowe (13) and Clare (10) combined to grab 23 boards against Portland.

REBOUNDING RECORD

Fullerton set a new program record on Dec. 30 against Bethesda with 71 rebounds. It was the most rebounds for a Titans team since Fullerton grabbed 68 boards against Central Michigan on Dec. 15, 1975. In addition, Fullerton has out-rebounded its opponent in its last five games, posting a 246-171 advantage on the glass.

AS COGGINS GOES...

Senior Tre' Coggins has led the Titans in scoring nine times this season including the last two contests. But his shooting efficiency has gotten even better in his past five games and Fullerton has seen results because of it. Coggins is shooting 19-for-43 (44.2 percent) from beyond the arc in his last five games played and shooting 46.7 percent from the field overall (35-for-75), averaging 21.0 ppg. In his first six games played this year, Coggins was shooting at 40.8 percent from the field and just 31.9 percent from distance while averaging 19.8 ppg. Fullerton is 4-1 in Coggins' last five games after going just 1-5 in his previous six games played.

THAT'S OFFENSIVE

Fullerton has put together impressive numbers on the offensive glass in the past three games. The Titans have grabbed double-digit offensive rebounds in all three games with a 58-28 advantage on that end, which has led to a 52-24 edge in second-chance points. Fullerton has won two of those three games, with the loss coming in overtime at Omaha.

FEED YOUR FRIENDS

Cal State Fullerton dished out 25 assists in its win over Bethesda on Dec. 30. It was a new season high and tied for the third most in recorded history. The Titans had 11 players record at least one assist in the game with Davon Clare and Austen Awosika leading the team with four assists apiece.
