Cal State Fullerton travels to Omaha to face the Mavericks for the second time in three weeks, looking to avenge a loss at Titan Gym on Nov. 30.

The Titans head to the Midwest for a second outing against the Mavericks this season. Omaha is coming off an 80-75 victory at the University of Missouri-Kansas City on Thursday night. Marcus Tyus led the Mavericks with 21 points, one of three players in double figures for Omaha. The victory was Omaha's fourth in the last five games, a streak that began on Nov. 30 against Cal State Fullerton at Titan Gym.

Head-To-Head:

The Titans and Mavericks meet for the second time in three weeks after having never faced each other prior to the 2016-17 season.

Last Meeting:

Cal State Fullerton committed 17 turnovers on the night and 12 of them in the first half as the Titans fell to the Mavericks, 83-73, at Titan Gym on Nov. 30. Tre' Coggins led the Titans with 18 points on 6-for-16 shooting while Jackson Rowe added 10 points and seven boards. Dwight Ramos also tallied double figures, scoring 12 points in 11 minutes off the bench. The Titans were in a 17-point hole in the second half before mounting a 14-0 scoring run to make it a close game. But the Mavericks went 21-for-23 from the free throw line in the second half to keep the Titans at bay and secure the victory. Tra-Deon Hollins led the Mavericks with 20 points and Tre'Shawn Thurman added 17 and 12 boards.

LAST TIME OUT - CAL STATE FULLERTON 75, SOUTHERN UTAH 62

Cal State Fullerton's balanced offensive effort led by freshman guard Dwight Ramos pushed the Titans to a 75-62 victory over Southern Utah on Saturday night at Titan Gym.

The rookie from West Covina, Calif., scored a team-leading 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting as Fullerton improved to 4-6 on the season with an impressive 4-1 mark at Titan Gym.

Fellow freshman Austen Awosika poured in 10 points off the bench to go along with four assists.

Senior guard Tre' Coggins added 13 points and a team-leading seven rebounds for Fullerton in addition to three assists, while sophomore guard Kyle Allman recorded 12 points in the win. Arkim Robertson added eight points, two blocks and one steal.

The Titans could not stop Southern Utah's (2-8) Randy Onwuasor as he came off the bench to score a game-high 31 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the floor and a 9-of-12 effort from the free-throw line. He was the only Thunderbird to reach double figures as SUU was held to a .361 (22-of-61) shooting percentage.

Fullerton shot 47.1 percent (24-of-51) from the floor and held a 40-31 advantage in rebounding while also producing a season-high eight blocks and five steals.

COGGINS LEADING THE WAY

Redshirt senior Tre' Coggins currently leads the Titans in scoring at 19.6 points a game, which also tops the Big West Conference and is also 63rd in the nation. Coggins has made 30 3-pointers this season, which is the most in the Big West and 53rd most in the nation. Coggins also leads the conference and is 46th in the country in minutes per game, averaging 35.06 per game.

HELP OFF THE BENCH

Freshman Austen Awosika currently ranks fourth on the team in scoring a 9.8 points a game, the best scoring average by a Titans reserve this season. He is also fourth on the team in rebounds and tied for first on the team with 10 steals. He logged his second double-figure scoring output of the season against Southern Utah, scoring 10 points in 19 minutes off the bench while also tying for the team lead in assists with four. Awosika has played in all 10 games for Fullerton this season, all off the bench. He is averaging 21.8 minutes per game, the most by any Titans player without a start this season. He's also third on the team with a .510 (25-for-49) field goal percentage by a Titans player with at least 30 shot attempts.

DEALING WITH REJECTION

Cal State Fullerton recorded a season-high eight blocked shots on Saturday night against Southern Utah, eclipsing the previous season high of seven set in the previous game at San Diego. The Titans have recorded at least five blocks in their last four games and five times overall so far this season. Jackson Rowe has now recorded two blocks in four straight games and leads the team with 11 overall this season, which is the fifth most in the Big West. As a team, the Titans are registering 4.5 blocks a game, the most in the Big West. Their 45 overall rejections rank second behind UC Irvine's 52.

DO THE DWIGHT THING

Freshman Dwight Ramos led the team in scoring for the second time this season, pouring in 14 points against Southern Utah on Saturday night at Titan Gym. It was his third double-digit scoring output this season. He went 5-for-6 from the field and 2-for-3 from beyond the arc in just 19 minutes of action off the bench.

THAT 70s SHOW

Cal State Fullerton is currently averaging 74.5 points a game, a mark that ranks second in the Big West behind only CSUN (79.3).

FROM THE FIELD

Cal State Fullerton currently ranks second amongst Big West Conference teams in shooting percentage, hitting 46.2 percent of its shots so far this season. The Titans are also holding opponents to a 42.8 percentage, which also ranks second amongst conference teams.

 

IT'S FOR CHARITY

The Titans continue to get to the free throw line this season, making 29 trips to the charity stripe in Saturday's win against Southern Utah. It was the third most attempts at the line in a game for the Titans this season and their 21 makes were the fourth most in a game this year. Overall, the Titans have gotten to the free throw line 272 times, the most in the Big West and the 31st most in the nation.

PAINT JOB

Cal State Fullerton has outscored its opponents 310-251 in the paint this season and has been outscored on the inside just twice through 10 games.
