FULLERTON, Calif. --- Cal State Fullerton's balanced offensive effort led by freshman guard Dwight Ramos pushed the Titans to a 75-62 victory over Southern Utah on Saturday night at Titan Gym.

The rookie from West Covina, Calif., scored a team-leading 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting as Fullerton improved to 4-6 on the season with an impressive 4-1 mark at Titan Gym.

Fellow freshman Austen Awosika poured in 10 points off the bench to go along with four assists.

"I thought tonight's win was every indicative of what our team is capable of moving forward with all kinds of contributions from different players," head coach Dedrique Taylor said. "We have a lot of players that can come in and contribute, and tonight our starters got in foul trouble and just couldn't get in rhythm, and I thought the second group competed and played hard. I thought that was the difference in terms of an energy surge that propelled us out in front at the end of the second half."

Senior guard Tre' Coggins added 13 points and a team-leading seven rebounds for Fullerton in addition to three assists, while sophomore guard Kyle Allman recorded 12 points in the win. Arkim Robertson added eight points, two blocks and one steal.

The Titans could not stop Southern Utah's (2-8) Randy Onwuasor as he came off the bench to score a game-high 31 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the floor and a 9-of-12 effort from the free-throw line. He was the only Thunderbird to reach double figures as SUU was held to a .361 (22-of-61) shooting percentage.

Fullerton shot 47.1 percent (24-of-51) from the floor and held a 40-31 advantage in rebounding while also producing a season-high eight blocks and five steals.

The Titans had just a 53-51 lead with 7:46 to play in the second half, but free throws from Ramos, and Awosika, and an inside bucket from fellow freshman Davon Clare helped the Titans build an eight-point lead.

With just over two minutes to play a free throw from Clare put the Titans ahead by double digits, 66-56, for the first time in the game, as Lionheart Leslie and Jackson Rowe converted free throws in the final moments to preserve the win.

Ramos scored 10 points to lead Cal State Fullerton in the first half, and one of his two baskets from long distance followed by an Awosika free throw on the next Titan possession, gave the Titans their largest lead, 32-26, of the first half.

Notes: Cal State Fullerton totaled a season-high eight blocks…Cal State Fullerton leads the all-time series with Southern Utah 7-0…Dwight Ramos led Fullerton in scoring for the second time in his career…for just the second time this season, the Titans had at least four players score in double figures…Davon Clare matched a career high scoring seven points.
