Titans Offense Stuggles in loss to Jacksonville State

LAS VEGAS – Cal State Fullerton struggled offensively, particularly in the second half as the Titans fell 61-38 Friday morning in the final rounds of Global Sports Classic at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Titans will face either Northern Arizona or Alabama State on Saturday in the final game of the tournament on Saturday at 11 a.m.

The Titans (2-3) lost their third straight game after going just 10-for-39 (25.6 percent) from the field and 4-for-15 from beyond the arc.

Tre' Coggins was the only player to notch double figures for Fullerton, scoring 11 points on 4-for-11 shooting while grabbing three boards.

For the Gamecocks (3-3), Erik Durham led all scorers with 20 points while Norbertas Giga added 11 points and 12 boards.

Both teams struggled in the first half, going a combined 15-for-46 from the field with the Titans trailing by just four, 28-24, at halftime. But after a Lionheart Leslie trimmed the Titans deficit to 32-27 early in the second half, the Gamecocks outscored Fullerton 21-6 in a span of 10:12 to put the game away. The Titans were just 4-for-20 (20 percent) in the final 20 minutes.

Notes: Joshua Currenton made his first appearance of the season Friday, starting at forward and playing eight minutes… The Titans scored the fewer than 50 points in a game for the first time since March 10, 2016 when they scored 44 against Hawai'i in the Big West Tournament.
