FULLERTON, Calif. – UC Santa Barbara sprinted to an early lead and never looked back as the Gauchos defeated Cal State Fullerton 80-62 on Saturday night at Titan Gym in Big West Conference action.

With the loss, the Titans drop to 10-18 on the year and 3-12 in Big West Conference play, while UC Santa Barbara improves to 15-12 on the year along with a 9-5 mark in league as the team's win streak was extended to six games.

John Green and Michael Bryson combined for 38 points as UCSB shot a remarkable 55.0 percent (33-of-60) from the floor and 52.0 percent (13-of-25) from three-point range, dishing 19 assists on 33 made baskets. The UCSB bench outscored CSF's reserves, 37-11, and the Gauchos held a 30-20 advantage in the paint.

Green poured in 19 off the bench for UCSB shooting 8-of-9 from the floor, while Bryson made five buckets from long distance en route to a 19-point effort to go along with a team-leading eight rebounds.

The Gauchos' 13 made three-pointers matched as season high for Titan opponents this year.

Tre' Coggins scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Titans, draining five three-pointers against the UCSB zone defense. Jamar Akoh had an all-round game of eight points, a team-leading eight rebounds for the second game in a row and two assists.

Fullerton was held to a .373 shooting percentage (22-of-59) and totaled only six assists.

Cal State Fullerton trailed 41-30 at the break as UC Santa Barbara shot a scorching 60.0 percent (18-of-30) from the floor, knocking down five three-pointers with Green leading UCSB with 11 points.

The Titans committed five turnovers in the first 20 minutes shooting 40.0 percent (12-of-30) from the floor as Coggins led the Titans with 10 points.

The Titans close the season hosting Long Beach State at 7 p.m., Wednesday night at Titan Gym where the senior class – Malcolm Brooks, Malcom Henderson and Kennedy Esume, will be honored prior to the game.
