Attended Ennis High School in Ennis, Texas where he played for his father, Jerry Mason... Regarded as one of the top prospects in the state of Texas...Ranked No. 13 in the state and rated nationally as a three-star recruit by TexasHoops.com and Rivals.com...Earned three all-district nods (2010-12), district MVP (2011) and was garnered all-state honors as a junior and senior for the Lions...Nominated for McDonald's All-America honors...Ammassed more than 2,500 points in his high school career at Ennis, and averaged nearly four assists, four rebounds and two steals per contest...Led the Lions to 67 victories in four years, including an impressive 47 wins in his final two seasons.

Born in Austin, Texas...son of Jimmie Ates and Jerry Mason...has one older brother, Jeremy...father and high school coach, Jerry Mason, played collegiate basketball at Texas Tech.
