Serrano Takes Job at Tennessee

Fullerton, Calif. - Dave Serrano stepped down as the head coach of the Cal State Fullerton baseball program on Wednesday to become the head baseball coach at the University of Tennessee, a program he was an assistant coach for back in 1995 and 1996.

Serrano, the Big West Conference's Coach of the Year in each of the last two seasons, leaves Fullerton after four season at the helm where he guided the Titans to three conference championships, four Regionals appearances, three Super Regional appearances and a College World Series berth in 2009.

Serrrano played for Augie Garrido's Titans in 1986 and was George Horton's assistant coach at Fullerton from 1997-2004. He was named Baseball America's assistant coach of the year in 2004 and its national coach of the year three years later while heading up the UC Irvine program.

Serrano posted a 175-73 record in four seasons in pinstripes and has compiled a career record of 289-139-1 with both Fullerton and Irvine (2005-2007).
