TITANS `05: Missed his third season in his
fourth year at Cal State Fullerton, suffering a season-ending
shoulder injury in the Fall • Underwent surgery in November
and missed the entire 2005 campaign.
TITANS `04: Collegiate Baseball named him a
second-team preseason All-American as he was to likely be the
Titans' Sunday starter. Unfortunately, he did not play in a game in
2004 due to an arm injury.
TITANS `03: Earned freshman All-American honors
from Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America (second-team) after
going 9-2 with a 3.33 ERA in his rookie season • Also received
an honorable mention All-Big West Conference selection •
Finished fifth in the Big West in ERA, ninth in opposing batting
average (.261), eighth in innings pitched (100.0), fourth in
strikeouts (97) and sixth in wins • Tied the Titans'
25-year-old freshman record for wins (held by Titan all-time
winningest pitcher Dave Weatherman), while also eclipsing
Weatherman's record for winning percentage by a freshman •
Broke the school's freshman record for games started (18) and set a
new mark with 97 strikeouts (which also tied him for the fifth most
ever by a Big West freshman) • Was a three-time Big West
Pitcher of the Week • Was a perfect 6-0 with a 2.14 ERA at
Goodwin Field • Was 4-0 with a 2.43 ERA against top-25
competition (beating Stanford, Long Beach State, Notre Dame and
Arizona State) • Averaged 8.7 strikeouts per nine innings and
had a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 3.9 to 1 • Named by Baseball
America as one of the top three freshmen starting pitchers in the
country through the midway point of the season • Was a clutch
performer in the postseason, limiting Arizona State (the nation's
top-hitting team) to one run on just three hits in 7.1 innings in
the Super Regional-clinching a win on June 8 • Named to the
Fullerton Regional all-tournament team after allowing just a run
and striking out 10 Notre Dame batters in eight innings in the
championship game • Was brilliant in his collegiate debut on
Feb. 2, holding Stanford to one run on four hits in six innings to
earn the win • Allowed just one run on five hits in six
innings in the KIA Bash on Mar. 2 to a UCLA squad that scored a
combined 25 runs against Texas and Tulane • Struck out 13 and
walked none in just 6.2 innings in a win over Nevada on Feb. 23,
the highest strikeout total by a Titan since Adam Johnson fanned 17
in 2000 • Pitched the first seven innings of a 7-0 shutout of
Long Beach State on Mar. 29, the Titans' first-ever shutout at
Blair Field • Gave up five runs to Stanford at the College
World Series on June 15, but the Titans rallied for a win.
TITANS `02: Granted a redshirt season after
undergoing elbow surgery on his pitching arm.
DIAMOND BAR H.S.: Three-year letterman and
all-league pitcher at Diamond Bar (Calif.) H.S. • Posted a 9-2
record and 1.39 ERA as a senior • Logged 10 complete games,
including three shutouts, and struck out 75 batters in 71 innings
• Also batted .378 with a pair of homers in 45 at bats •
Was 7-2 as a junior and 5-1 as a sophomore • Received the
scholar-athlete title all four years and earned a spot on the
Principal's Honor Roll for three semesters.
