Baseball Drops Game Two at TCU

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Cal State Fullerton baseball dropped game two at TCU Saturday afternoon by a final score of 13-4. The Titans are now 28-14 on the year.

The Titans fell behind early, giving up one run in the bottom of the first inning. Fullerton starting pitcher Fynn Chester did a great job to limit the damage after he loaded the bases with just one out.

Chester suffered his first loss of the season to fall to 7-1 on the year. Chester allowed five earned runs on 13 hits in 4.1 innings pitched.

TCU extended its lead in the home half of the third inning, scoring three runs to take a 4-0 lead.

Fullerton came charging back with four runs in the fifth inning to tie the game at 4-4. Carter White led-off the inning with a single. Following two quick outs, Zach Lew hit an RBI double to the gap in right center field to bring home White from first and get the Titans on the board.

Just like Friday night's game, Caden Connor followed up Lew with an RBi single of his own to cut TCU's lead to 4-2. Connor went 3-for-4 on the day with one run, an RBI and a walk.

After a base hit and an error loaded the bases, Maddox Latta came up with a two-run single through the right side of the infield to tie the game at 4-4. Latta went 2-for-4 in the game with two RBI.

The Titans scored all four runs in the fourth inning with two outs. So far this season the Titans have scored 92 times for a total of 122 runs.

TCU regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning on a wild pitch that allowed a runner to score from third to make it a 5-4 game. The Horned Frogs blew the game open in the eighth inning, scoring eight runs to take a 13-4 lead.

The Titans are back at Lupton Stadium Sunday afternoon for the rubber match to decide the series. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m. PT.
