FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton defeated CSU Bakersfield, 10-5, Saturday night at Goodwin Field to secure its eighth straight series victory.

The Titans are now 22-11 on the year and 14-3 in Big West play to stay in control of first place in the conference. With 22 wins the Titans tie the season win total from a year ago.

Fullerton jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single to drive in Moises Guzman from second base. The Titans have dominated opponents in the first inning this season, outscoring the opposition 36-14.

After Bakersfield tied the game at 1-1 in the second inning, the Titans regained the lead in the third on a two-run double by Caden Connor to score Guzman and Carter White

In the fourth inning, CSU Bakersfield cut the Titans lead to 3-2 on a solo home run by Jacob Ruley.

Fullerton immediately responded in the home half of the fourth inning on an RBI single by Guzman to score Cole Urman and extend the lead back to two runs, 4-2.

The Titans extended their lead to 7-2 with three runs in the fifth inning. With runners on first and third and one out, Maddox Latta came through with an RBI double to right center field to bring home Nate Nankil

Cole Urman then hit a sacrifice fly to score Zach Lew from third before a Jack Haley RBI single scored Latta and brought the lead to 7-2.

The Roadrunners scored two runs in the sixth inning to cut the Titans lead to 7-4. However, Carter White made a great throw from left field to get the runner out at home to end the inning and limit the damage.

As they have all year, the Titans quickly responded with one run in the bottom half of the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Connor to score White and put the Titans up 8-4. Connor had a great game at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

CSU Bakersfield answered with one run in the seventh inning to make it an 8-5 lead before a two-run double by Guzman put the Titans up 10-5. Guzman went 2-for-3 on the night with two walks, two runs and three RBI.

The top four Titans in the order did damage at the plate all night, each recording two hits with a combined five runs and seven RBI.

Fynn Chester improved to 6-0 on the year after pitching 5.2 innings while giving up four runs (three earned) and striking out three batters.

Jojo Ingrassia earned his fourth save of the season after throwing 2.2 shutout innings. Ingrassia allowed just three hits and one walk while tying his career-high with five strikeouts.

The Titans are back at Goodwin Field Sunday afternoon looking to sweep the series against CSU Bakersfield. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. PT.
