Stultz Tosses Complete Game in Win Over UC Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton baseball took game one of its series against UC Riverside by a final score of 3-2 Friday night at The Plex.

The Titans are now 17-11 on the year and 10-3 in Big West play to put them in second place in the conference.

The Titans jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Caden Connor to bring home Carter White. White led-off the inning with an infield single before stealing second and advancing to third on fly-out to right field.

Fullerton extended its lead to 2-0 in the fourth inning on an RBI single by White with the bases loaded to drive in Zach Lew from third base.

UC Riverside tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning on an error by Tyler Stultz with a runner on first. With a large fair territory at the field, the runner was able to score from first on the errant throw on a sacrifice bunt which allowed the batter to reach third and make it a 2-1 game. A sacrifice fly to center field then tied the game at 2-2.

The Titans scored what would be the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning on a wild pitch that allowed White to score from third.

White went 2-for-5 on the night with two runs and an RBI while extending his hitting streak to 23 games and on-base streak to 26 games.

Tyler Stultz pitched his first complete game as a Titan, allowing two runs (zero earned) on four hits while walking two and striking out five. Stultz improves to 4-2 on the year with the win.

The Titans are back at The Plex Saturday evening for game two of the series against UC Riverside. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. PT.
