LOS ANGELES – Cal State Fullerton baseball came up short against No. 23 USC Tuesday night at Dedeaux Field by a final score of 4-3. The Titans are now 16-11 on the year.
USC broke the scoreless game in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring on a fielder's choice to take a 1-0 lead. The Trojans added to their lead in the sixth on a sacrifice bunt to drive in a runner from third base.
The Titans responded with two outs in the top of the seventh inning as Jack Haley hit his first career home run to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Following a Carter White single, Maddox Latta ripped an RBI double to right center field to bring home White from first and tie the game at 2-2.

USC scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a 4-2 lead.
Fullerton made a valiant attempt at a comeback in the ninth inning. With runners on second and third and one out, Caden Connor hit a sacrifice fly to right field to make it a 4-3 game. The Titans were unable to score the tying run, leaving White stranded at second base.
Peyton Jones got the start for the Titans and pitched two shutout innings. Jones gave up one hit while walking three and striking out four. Jojo Ingrassia got the loss to drop to 3-1 on the year after giving up two runs on four hits in the eighth inning.
Fullerton returns to conference play this weekend for a three-game series at UC Riverside.
