Titans Drop Series Opener to UC Santa Barbara

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton baseball dropped its series opener to UC Santa Barbara Thursday night at Goodwin Field by a final score of 14-0. The Titans are now 14-10 on the season and 7-3 in Big West play. 

The Titans fell behind in the top of the second inning after an error extended the inning which led to a three-run home run by the Gauchos Nick Oakley. 

UC Santa Barbara went on to score seven runs in the top of the third inning to jump out to a commanding 10-0 lead. The Gauchos scored one run in the fifth inning and three in the eighth. 

Tyler Stultz struggled on the mound for the Titans, allowing 10 runs (seven earned) on nine hits in 2.1 innings pitched while walking three batters and striking out one. Stultz is now 3-2 on the year. 

UC Santa Barbara's Matt Ager improved to 4-1 on the year after pitching 7.2 shutout innings, giving up just two hits while walking one and striking out nine batters. 

Fullerton looks to respond Friday night and tie the series in game two against UCSB at Goodwin Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. PT.
