FULLERTON, Calif.  – Cal State Fullerton baseball dropped game two of its series with Hawai'i by a final score of 14-10 Saturday evening at Goodwin Field. The Titans are now 13-9 on the year and 6-2 in Big West play.

The Titans jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Maddox Latta got Fullerton on the board first as he was able to score on an error by the Hawai'i pitcher.

With runners on second and third and one out, Zach Lew singled up the middle to bring home two runs and give Fullerton an early 3-0 lead.

Hawai'i cut into the Titans lead in the top of the third inning with two runs on RBI's by Ben Zeigler-Namoa and Matt Wong to make it a 3-2 game.

Fullerton responded with one run in the bottom half of the fourth inning on a solo home run by freshman Max Ortega, his first career home run. Ortega had his best collegiate game Saturday evening, going 2-for-5 with a run and a career-high three RBI.

The two teams continued to exchange blows throughout the rest of the game as Hawai'i came back to score three runs in the top of the fifth to take a 5-4 lead.

The Titans immediately answered back with two runs in the home half of the inning to retake the lead. Carter White led-off the inning with a triple to left field, his first of the season and the Titans third as a team.

Following a productive out by Caden Connor advanced Nankil to third base, Lew hit a single to left field to give Fullerton a 6-5 lead. Lew had a strong game at the plate for the Titans, going 2-for-4 with a walk, one run and three RBI.

Hawai'i quickly responded with two runs of its own in the top half of the sixth inning to take the lead right back, 7-6. Hawai'i opened up the game in the seventh inning with five runs to go up 12-6.

The Titans never gave up, scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning on a double to center field by Moises Guzman to bring home Connor and Nankil and make it a 12-8 game. Connor added to his season run total after he went 3-for-5 on the day with a team-high three runs.

Hawai'i added two more runs in the ninth inning to extend its lead to 14-8. Fullerton was unable to keep Hawai'i off the scoreboard as the Titans walked nine batters and gave up a season-high 19 hits.

The Titans refused to go down quietly as Ortega drove in two more runs in the bottom of the ninth inning.
