FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton baseball dropped its midweek game to Utah by a final score of 3-2 Tuesday night at Goodwin Field. The Titans are now 4-6 on the year. 

The Titans fell behind 2-0 in the top half of the second inning on a productive infield out followed by a sacrifice fly to right field. 

Fullerton responded in the home half of the second inning with one run on a productive out by Luke Mistone who recorded his first collegiate RBI by bringing home Zach Lew.

Utah added to its lead in the sixth inning on a bunt back to the pitcher that drove in the runner from third base to put the Utes up 3-1. 

The Titans once again responded in their half of the inning, this time on an RBI single by Maddox Latta to score Max Ortega from second base. Carter White attempted to score on the throw home that went over the catcher's head but was thrown out at the plate.

Freshman Jesse Alfaro got his first collegiate start and pitched one no-hit inning while walking one. Andrew Morones (0-1) drew the loss for the Titans after giving up two runs in the second. 

TJ Clarkson got the nod for Utah on the mound and went two innings, giving up one earned run on two hits while walking one and striking out one. Ernie Lugo-Canchola earned the win for Utah after pitching three shutout innings and allowing just one hit. 

The Titans look to bounce back this weekend as they hit the road for the first time this season for a three-game series at Pepperdine beginning Friday at 2:00 p.m. PT.
