FULLERTON, Calif. – The 2023 Titans rallied to score 12 unanswered runs to defeat the alumni team 12-4 Saturday afternoon at Goodwin Field.

The alumni jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first on back-to-back RBI doubles by Scott Hurst and Daniel Cope.

Sahid Valenzuela drove in a run in the top of the fourth and the sixth inning to give the alumni a 4-0 lead and all of the momentum.

Freshman Luke Mistone finally got the 2023 Titans on the board in the seventh inning on an RBI single through the left side of the infield before Caden Connor brought home JT Navyac to make it a two-run game.

With one out and two runners on, the alumni went to Mitchell Berryhill out of the bullpen. Berryhill, who never pitched during his collegiate career, got the alumni out of the jam to keep the 4-2 lead.

The 2023 Titans broke the game open in the bottom of the eighth inning starting with a two-run blast by freshman Max Ortega. The Titans would go on to score 10 runs in the eighth to make it a 12-4 game.

The Titans turn their attention to the season opener against No. 3 Stanford on Friday, Feb. 17 at Goodwin Field. Fans can purchase season tickets and single game tickets on FullertonTitansTickets.com.
