Bobo's Home Run Not Enough to Outlast UC Irvine

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton dropped game two of its series to UC Irvine by a final score of 7-3 Friday night at Goodwin Field. The Titans fall to 21-33 on the year and 13-16 in conference play. 

The Titans took an early lead on a three-run home run by Brendan Bobo in the bottom of the first inning, his sixth of the year. Austin Schell and Zach Lew got the inning going with a pair of one-out singles. 

UC Irvine got on the board in the top half of the third inning on a wild pitch before taking the lead in the sixth inning on four runs. The Anteaters went on to add to their lead in the eighth with two more runs. 

Evan Yates got the start for the Titans and pitched 5.2 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits while walking five and striking out four. Yates drew the loss and is now 3-3 this season.

David Vizcaino (5-0) earned the win for UC Irvine after giving up three runs on four hits in six innings while walking one and striking out six. 

Fullerton looks to bounce back in the season finale Saturday afternoon at Goodwin Field to secure the series victory. The Titans will recognize the 2022 senior class prior to the 1:00 p.m. game.
