FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton Baseball dominated No. 23 UCLA, 9-2, Tuesday night at Goodwin Field. With the win the Titans improve to 19-27 on the year.

The Titans jumped out to an early lead, scoring eight runs in the first four innings. Caden Connor got the scoring going in the first with a two-run home run, his fourth of the season.

Fullerton would add one in the second on a great hustle play by Jack Haley to beat out and infield bunt to drive in Jakob Schardt

The Titans scored three runs in the third inning on RBI singles from Zach Lew, Nate Nankil and Schardt, who recorded his first collegiate RBI. Schardt had a great game in his first career start, going 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Austin Schell capped off the four-inning fury of runs, driving in Lyon and Haley on a two-run single to put the Titans up 8-0. Schell continued his hot streak at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a run and three RBI. After tonight's win, Schell is hitting a Big West-leading .400.

UCLA eventually got on the board in the top half of the sixth inning on an RBI single by Cody Schrier. The Bruins scored one more in the eighth but the Titans immediately responded with a run in the bottom of the eighth inning on an RBI single by Schell to drive in Lyon.

Lyon had another outstanding game out the plate which Titans fans have been accustomed to witnessing all season. Lyon went an impressive 4-for-5 at the dish with four runs. Lyon is hitting .360 on the year, ranking fourth in the conference.

Ryan Gil earned the win for Fullerton after pitching three shutout innings, while only allowing two hits with one walk and two strikeouts. Gil improves to 3-1 on the year.

Cal State Fullerton looks to carry its momentum into this weekend's three-game series against Cal Poly. The series begins Friday night at Goodwin Field.
