LA JOLLA, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton baseball dropped the series-opener to UC San Diego Friday night by a final score of 8-4 at Triton Ballpark. The Titans drop to 17-26 and 10-9 in Big West play.
Fullerton jumped out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the top of the second inning on a two-run triple from JT Navyac to score Zach Lew and Brendan Bobo.

UC San Diego got on the board with one run in the bottom of the third before scoring four runs in the fourth to take a 5-2 lead.
Jackson Lyon crushed a two-run home run in the top half of the fifth inning to bring the Titans within one run, trailing 5-4. Lyon now has a tied for team-high six home runs this season.

The Tritons would extend their lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring three runs to take an 8-4 lead.
Tyler Stultz (4-3) drew the loss for Fullerton after giving up eight runs (six earned) on 10 hits while walking two and striking out four in six innings of work. Ryan Forcucci (2-4) earned the win, pitching seven innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits while walking one and striking out nine.
Cal State Fullerton looks to bounce back in game two of the series Saturday afternoon. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
