FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton baseball dropped game two of the three game-series to CSUN by a final score of 2-1 Saturday night at Goodwin Field. With the loss the Titans drop to 15-21 on the season and 9-5 in Big West Conference play.

The two teams were in yet another pitchers duel Saturday night. Evan Yates got the start for the Titans and gave up one run in the top of the first inning but settled down to pitch four innings, allowing just the one run on two hits while striking out four.

Fullerton tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly from Carter White, however, CSUN quickly retook the lead with one run in the top half of the fifth which would turn out to be the game-winning run.

Blake Sodersten got the win for the Matadors after pitching the final 6.1 innings and allowing one earned run on six hits while walking three and striking out eight batters.

Fynn Chester pitched four innings in relief for Fullerton, giving up one run on three hits. Chester drew the loss to drop to 1-1 on the year. Caden Connor had another solid game at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two walks.

The two teams will meet Sunday afternoon at Goodwin Field for the rubber game to decide the series. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
