Baseball Drops Nonconference Game at UCI

IRVINE, Calif.  – Cal State Fullerton Baseball fell to UC Irvine Tuesday night, 6-1, at Ciceron Field in a nonconference matchup. The Titans are now 10-17 on the season. 

Fullerton fell behind 4-0 after UC Irvine scored two runs in the bottom half of the third and fifth inning. 

The Titans got on the board in the top of the seventh inning on a RBI single by Jackson Lyon. Fullerton strung together four straight two-out base hits to drive in the run. 

The Anteaters would respond with another two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to extend their lead to 6-1. 

Peyton Jones got the start for the Titans and pitched 2.1 innings, allowing two runs (both unearned) on five hits while striking out two. Fynn Chester had a strong outing in relief for Fullerton, pitching one shutout inning while not allowing a hit.

David Vizcaino got the win for UCI after pitching two shutout innings in relief to earn his first win of the season. 

Fullerton now heads to Michigan for a three-game nonconfernece series against the Wolverines beginning Friday.
