FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton Baseball defeated UC Riverside, 16-6, Sunday afternoon at Goodwin Field to complete the series sweep. The Titans improve to 8-14 and 4-2 in conference play.
The Titans gave up one run in the top of the first inning to fall behind early. However, the Titans offense exploded for 10 runs on eight hits to blow the game open. The first 11 Titans batters reached safely.
With the bases loaded Zach Lew hit a bases clearing double to put the Titans up 3-1. Two batters later JJ Cruz smashed a two-run home run to extend the lead to 5-1. Fullerton would go on to score five more runs on RBIs by Nate Nankil, Caden Connor, Brendan Bobo and another by Cruz.

Evan Yates got his first collegiate start and went three innings, allowing one earned run on one hit while striking out two batters. Yates earned his second win of the season to improve to 2-0 this year.
Connor went 3-for-6 Sunday with two runs and two RBI. Jackson Lyon drew a career-high four walks with two runs. Lew went 3-for-5 with one run and five RBI. Cruz went 2-for-5 with one run and three RBI. As a team, the Titans drew a season-high 11 walks.
The Titans are back in action Wednesday for a midweek matchup against San Jose State. Fullerton returns to conference play next weekend at CSU Bakersfield.
