FULLERTON, Calif.  – Cal State Fullerton Baseball dominated UC Riverside in its Big West Conference home opener Friday night at Goodwin Field, 11-1. The Titans improve to 6-14 and 2-3 in conference play.

After falling behind, 1-0, in the top of the second inning, the Titans responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning. Cole Urman got the inning going with a single before a Nate Nankil double scored Urman from first.

With Nankil standing on second base, JT Navyac singled to right center to bring home Nankil and give Fullerton the lead.

The Titans would go on to score two more runs in the inning on a Jackson Lyon double and Brendan Bobo RBI single.

The Titans extended their lead in the third inning as Jack Haley recorded an RBI single to score Nankil before a two-run double by Caden Connor brought home Haley and Navyac.

Fullerton put up another crooked number in the sixth inning as Lyon led-off the inning with a solo home run to left field, his second home run of the season.

Two batters later Jason Brandow hit his first triple of the year to score Bobo and give the Titans a 9-1 lead. Urman then brought home Brandow on a productive infield groundout to extend the lead to 10-1. Lyon added to the lead in the seventh inning a single up the middle to score Haley and make it an 11-1 game.

Lyon went 3-for-5 on the night with two runs and a season-high three RBI. Nankil went 2-for-3 with two runs, an RBI and a walk while Haley went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Tyler Stultz got the start on the mound for the Titans and pitched seven innings, giving up just one run on five hits while striking out eight and walking just one. Stultz improves to 2-1 this season. Fynn Chester pitched the final two innings of the game and didn't allow a single hit while striking out one.

Fullerton looks to carry its momentum into game two of the series against UC Riverside Saturday night at Goodwin Field. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. PT.
