ISLA VISTA, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton Titans baseball team lost 3-1 in their Big West Conference opener at Santa Barbara on Friday night at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.
The Titans fall to 4-12 on the season. The Gauchos improved to 11-4 on the season.
It was a fantastic pitcher's duel for the game's first four innings as Tyler Stultz and Cory Lewis were both dealing for either side. Stultz went 4.2 innings allowing 3 runs on 4 hits, 1 walk, and fanning 8 batters. Corey Lewis went 5.2 innings allowing 0 runs, 2 hits, 4 walks, and struck out 10.
Finally in the fourth inning, the Gauchos were able to figure out Stultz and scored three runs off two home runs against him.
The Titan's weren't able to answer until scoring in the 8th inning. After Jackson Lyon reached on an infield error by the shortstop, Brendan Bobo singled up the middle to score him to cut the game to a 3-1 lead.

The Titans left a costly 9 men on base including leaving runners in scoring position in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 9th inning.
The Titans head back tomorrow for Game 2 against the Gauchos. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m.
