Titans Walk-off in 15th Inning Against LMU

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton baseball defeated LMU, 12-11, in 15 innings Friday night at Goodwin Field on a walk-off wild pitch. The Titans are now 3-9 on the season. 

The Titans went into the bottom of the ninth inning trailing by one run when Jason Brandow hit a home run to left-center field to tie the game at 11. It is Brandow's second home run of the season. 

Fullerton got off to a great start in the first inning as the first five batters recorded hits. With runners on first and third, Brendan Bobo blasted a home run to right field, his first of the season. 

After jumping ahead 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning, The Titans gave up six runs to LMU in the top half of the second to give the Lions the lead. 

The two teams went back and forth all game. Fullerton trailed 8-5 heading into the sixth inning before the Titans put up a four spot to retake the lead. With runners on first and second, Caden Connor hit a single to center field which got past the defense, allowing the two runners and Connor to score and tie the game. 

After a single by Jackson Lyon, Bobo once again came through in the clutch with an RBI double to right field to bring home Lyon and give the Titans the lead. However, LMU would respond with three runs in the seventh to take the lead back. 

Bobo had one of his best games as a Titan, going 2-for-5 with two runs, four RBI and two walks. Caden Connor was great in the leadoff spot for Fullerton, going 3-for-6 with three runs, two RBI and two walks. 

Evan Yates earned his first win of the season (1-0) after pitching a shutout inning in the top of the 15th. Mason Kokodynski drew the loss for LMU, his first of the year (0-1). 

The Titans look to earn the series victory against LMU Saturday evening in game two of the series at Goodwin Field. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. PT.
