Baseball Loses to Pepperdine at Goodwin Field

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton baseball dropped game one of its nonconference series to Pepperdine, 4-1, Friday night at Goodwin Field. 

The Titans (2-6) fell behind in the top of the first inning as Pepperdine (6-3) scored two runs on a double by Devon Walczykowski. The Waves took a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning on a RBI single by Cam Conley. 

Fullerton responded in the bottom of the fifth inning on an RBI single up the middle by Nate Nankil to score Jack Haley and get the Titans on the board. Nankil went 2-for-4 on the night with an RBI while Damone Hale also went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Ryan Gil (0-1) got the start in his first appearance with the Titans and went 2.0 innings, giving up two earned runs on three hits while striking out three and walking one. Brandon Llewellyn (1-1) earned the win for Pepperdine, pitching six innings while giving up one earned run on seven hits. 

The Titans look to bounce back Saturday evening in game two against Pepperdine. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. PT.
