Baseball Loses Closely Contested Game to Gonzaga

FULLERTON, Calif.  – Cal State Fullerton baseball lost to Gonzaga, 2-0, in game two of the noncoference series Saturday night at Goodwin Field. 

The two teams were scoreless through six innings before Gonzaga took a 1-0 lead on a wild pitch. The Bulldogs then added to their lead in the eighth inning on another wild pitch to go up 2-0. 

Tyler Stultz got the start on the mound for the Titans and pitched six shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out five. In two starts this season, Stultz has pitched 11 shutout innings while giving up just six hits. 

William Kempner got the start for Gonzaga and pitched 5.1 innings, giving up two hits while walking five batters and striking out four. Owen Wild (1-0) earned the win for Gonzaga after pitching 1.2 scoreless innings and allowing just two hits. James Wambold picked up the loss for the Titans (0-1). 

Michael Weisberg pitched two scoreless innings while striking out two batters for the Titans in his second appearance of the season.

Fullerton looks to avoid the sweep in game three of the series Sunday afternoon. First pitch is slated for 12:00 p.m. PT.
