STANFORD, Calif.  – Cal State Fullerton baseball dropped its opening game of the season to No. 6 Stanford, 1-0, Friday afternoon at Sunken Diamond.

Stanford's only run of the game came in the first inning on a fielding error by the Titans infield. Cameron Repetti got the start on the mound and had a fantastic outing to keep Fullerton in the game. He went six innings, giving up just two hits and one run (unearned) while walking two and striking out three.

James Wambold came on in relief in the seventh and pitched 1.1 innings, more than his entire freshman season. Wambold didn't give up a single hit in his outing. Josh Howitt came in and recorded the final two outs in quick fashion.

Trailing by just one run the entire game, Fullerton had its chances to tie or take the lead several times throughout the game. The best opportunity came in the top of the eighth inning as the Titans had the bases loaded with two outs, however, they were unable to plate a run as they left the bases loaded.

Carter White had a strong game at the plate for the Titans, going 2-for-3 with one walk. Overall, the Titans out hit Stanford, 5-2, but left seven runners on base.

Fullerton looks to bounce back Saturday afternoon in game two of the series against Stanford. First pitch is slated for 2:05 p.m.
