2022 Titans Defeat Alumni, 4-1

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton baseball hosted its annual alumni game Saturday afternoon at Goodwin Field following the unveiling of the Augie Garrido statue.

As always the Titan alumni showed up in full force to show support for the current coaches, players and the program.

The alumni took an early lead, scoring in the first inning on an RBI single by Josh Vargas to drive in Richie Pedroza. Pedroza led-off the game with a five pitch walk.

The 2022 Titans tied up the game at 1-1 in the bottom half of the third inning. Neither team scored again until the bottom of the eighth inning when Austin Schell hit a deep sacrifice fly to score Nate Nakil and give the Titans the lead. Fullerton would go on to score two more runs to give itself a cushion in the top of the ninth.

Michael Weisberg came on in the ninth to close out the game and recorded three quick outs including a strikeout on Los Angeles Angels outfielder Michael Lorenzen, who gave Weisberg a tip of the cap after.

The Titans now turn their attention to the 2022 season and opening weekend at Stanford Feb. 18-20.
