Fullerton Comes Up Short in Pitchers Duel Against Long Beach

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton (20-31, 13-19) dropped the final game of the series to Long Beach State (24-15, 22-14) by a final score of 4-1 Sunday afternoon. 

The Titans were in a pitchers duel with Long Beach all game. After giving up one run in the first inning, Kyle Luckham shutdown the Dirtbags for the rest of his outing. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up one run on five hits while striking out five. 

Fullerton answered in the bottom of the third inning on a solo home run by Josh Urps to tie the game at 1-1, his fourth home run of the season.

Long Beach State scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to secure the game, including two runs on a home run by Connor Kokx. 

Jack Noble started the game on the mound for Long Beach and gave up one run on four hits in seven innings pitched. Devereaux Harrison earned the win to improve to 3-1 this season after pitching the final two innings of the game. Cameron Repetti drew the loss and is now 4-2 this season. 

Fullerton wraps up the season with a four-game conference series on the road against UC Irvine beginning Friday night.
