Baseball Drops Opening Game of Series to Cal Poly

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton (19-25, 12-13) dropped game one of its series to Cal Poly (21-24, 11-18) Friday night by a final score of 5-1. 

The Mustangs jumped out to an early lead, scoring one run in the first and second inning before putting up three runs in the third. Drew Thorpe pitched 7.1 shutout innings for Cal Poly and earned the win to improve to 5-5.

Tanner Bibee started the game on the mound and went four innings, giving up three earned runs on 10 hits. Bibee is now 6-5 his season. Landon Anderson came on in relief and was lights out for the Titans, pitching four shutout innings while allowing just three hits. 

Fullerton scored its only run in the top of the ninth inning on an RBI single by Austin Schell to drive in Caden Connor

The Titans return to Baggett Stadium Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader against Cal Poly with game one beginning at 1:00 p.m. PT.
