Titans Drop Two Games In Doubleheader against Hawai'i

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton dropped both games of the doubleheader to Hawai'i Saturday afternoon at Goodwin Field. The Titans lost game one 4-1 and 15-6 in the second game of the day.

Game One
The Titans struggled to get much of anything going offensively in game one of the doubleheader. Fullerton didn't score a run until the bottom of the ninth inning on a double by Cole Urman to score Jason Brandow

Ryan Hare had his best start of the season for the Titans. Hare pitched 7.2 innings and gave up just three earned runs on nine hits while striking out six and not allowing a single walk. 

Cade Halemanu earned the win for Hawai'i after going 8.2 innings, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out 10. Halemanu is now 5-1 this season. 

Game Two
Fullerton fell behind early in game two of the doubleheader as Hawai'i nine runs in the first four innings to put the Titans behind 9-2. The Titans made the game close in the fifth inning, scoring three runs on three hits. Isaiah Garcia, Caden Connor and Jason Brandow all recorded RBI in the fifth. 

Garcia had a strong game for the Titans, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. Brandow went 2-for-3 with one run and two RBI. Connor hit 2-for-4 in the game with an RBI. Josh Urps went 2-for-2 with two runs.

However, the Rainbow Warriors responded with three runs of their own in the seventh inning and two in the eighth to extend the lead again. 

Li'i Pontes earned the win for Hawai'i after pitching five innings and giving up five earned runs on seven hits. Pontes is now 3-2 this season. Michael Knorr drew the loss, allowing three earned runs in 2.1 innings pitched Knorr is now 1-3 on the year. 

The Titans look to even up the series against Hawai'i Sunday afternoon in the fourth and final game of the series. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. PT.
