NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton  split the doubleheader with CSUN Saturday noon, winning the first game 6-4 in 10 innings before dropping the second game of the day 10-2.

GAME 1
The Titans (16-18, 9-6) and Matadors (9-14, 9-14) were locked in a back and forth game throughout the afternoon. The two teams couldn't settle the game in nine innings so they went to extras deadlocked at 3-3.

Brendan Bobo, Jake Harvey and Cole Urman came up with back-to-back-to-back clutch base hits in the top of the 10th inning to score three runs, leading to the Titans 6-4 victory. Cameron Repetti closed out the bottom of the inning to earn his fifth save of the season.

After a tough game on Friday, the Titans immediately responded with one run in the top of the first inning to set the tone.

Deylan Pigford got the game going with a leadoff single to right-center field to set up Jackson Lyon with a RBI double to right field to get Fullerton off to an early lead. Lyon had a great game for the Titans, going 3-for-5 at the plate with a run and a RBI.

CSUN came back to tie the game in the fourth inning, however, the Titans answered with a run of their own to take the lead back in the top of the fourth inning. With Lyon standing on second after a single and a stolen base, Isaiah Garcia hit a rocket through the left side of the infield to bring him home. Garcia went 2-for-5 with one run and a RBI.

The Matadors answered with two runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning to take a 3-2 lead. Once again, the Titans quickly responded with a run in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game at 3-3 on RBI groundout by Austin Schell

Ryan Hare got the start for the Titans and went six innings, giving up three runs on five hits. Michael Weisberg came on in relief in the seventh inning and pitched three shutout innings while giving up just two hits on his way to earning the win, moving to 2-1 this season

Gavin Lizik started on the mound for CSUN and pitched seven innings allowing one run on four hits. Zuko Tillman relieved him in the sixth and allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits in just one inning. Jackson Cunningham gave up one run on two hits in 3.2 innings of work to draw the loss (2-2).

GAME 2
Game two didn't go as the Titans would have hope with CSUN taking the game by a final score of 10-2.

The Matadors scored one run in the fourth, six in the fifth and two in the sixth inning to open up the game.

Fullerton did score first in the second game of the doubleheader as Isaiah Garcia blasted a solo home run to deep left field to put the Titans up 1-0 in the second inning.

Michael Knorr drew the loss for Fullerton after giving up five runs on five hits in four innings of work. Knorr is now 1-2 this season.

Jeremy Hassel (1-0) earned the win for CSUN, pitching five innings and giving up just one run on five hits.

Fullerton looks to even up the series against CSUN Sunday afternoon in the final game of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. PT.
