DAVIS, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton split the doubleheader with UC Davis, losing the first game 9-7 and completing a comeback victory in the second game to win 2-1.

GAME 1
Fullerton got off to an early lead, scoring one run in the top of the second inning on a fielder's choice RBI by Cole Urman

UC Davis came back to take the lead in the fourth inning after hitting back-to-back solo home runs. The Titans answered right back with four runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Josh Urps led-off with a single, which Jake Harvey followed with a triple to left field to drive in Urps and tie the game at 2-2. Caden Connor then answered with a single to center to give the Titans the lead right back.

With one on and two outs, Brendan Bobo stepped to the plate and bombed a home run to right field to put the Titans up 5-2. Bobo has now homered in back-to-back games to give him a team-high three this season. The freshman went 2-for-3 on the day with one run and two RBI.

Fullerton didn't hang on to the lead for long as UC Davis answered with five runs of their own in the bottom half of the fifth inning to take a 7-5 lead. The Aggies scored one run in the sixth and seventh to add some insurance to their lead. The Titans scored two runs in the eighth to make the game tight but came up short in the end.

Ryan Hare started the game on the mound for the Titans and went 4.1 innings, giving up four runs on five hits. Zach Carrell earned the win for UC Davis to improve to 2-1 this season.

GAME 2
Trailing 1-0 with two outs and runners on second and third in the top of the ninth inning, Cole Urman came through with a clutch pinch hit to drive in two runs and give the Titans a 2-1 lead.

Fullerton had just three hits in the first eight innings of the game but came through with three hits in the ninth when it was needed most.

Michael Knorr had a great start for the Titans on the mound, going eight innings and giving up just one run on five hits while allowing a walk and striking out five to improve to 1-1 this season.

Cameron Repetti came on in relief in the ninth after the Titans took the lead and gave up one hit while striking out two while earning his fourth save of the season.

Tim Wieser pitched 8.2 scoreless innings for UC Davis, allowing just five hits while striking out four but gave up two runs in the ninth to draw the loss and move to 1-4 this season.

Fullerton is back on the diamond next weekend for a four-game Big West Conference series against CSUN beginning Friday in Northridge.
