Baseball Loses to Pepperdine at Goodwin Field

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton lost the final game of the weekend to Pepperdine Sunday afternoon at Goodwin Field by a final score of 10-4. 

Pepperdine jumped out to an early lead with four runs in the first inning on two, two-run home runs. The Waves added two more in the third on a solo home run and a double to extend the lead to 6-0. 

The Titans worked their way back into the game in the bottom of the third inning as Caden Connor was able to drive home Zach Lew on a RBI groundout to put Fullerton on the board. Isaiah Garcia then crushed a solo home run to left field to bring the Titans within four runs. 

The two teams would trade runs again in the fifth before Pepperdine extended its lead in the sixth on a three RBI triple by Ryan Johnson to put the Wave up 10-3. 

Peyton Jones started the game on the mound for the Titans and picked up the loss (0-1). Brandon Llewellyn earned the win for Pepperdine, moving to 1-0 this season. 

The Titans are back at Goodwin Field Tuesday night as they play the third and final game this season against No. 8 UCLA.
