FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton baseball dropped game three of its opening series against Utah, 6-5 Monday afternoon at Goodwin Field.

The game turned out to be a nail-biter as the Titans had runners on first and third with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning and Carter White at the plate. White put the ball in play and made a great effort to beat out the throw at first base which would have tied the game at 6-6, however, he came up just short.

After picking up his first career hit and RBI in game two of the series, Nate Nankil came back with two hits and two RBI including the run batted in that brought the game within just one run in the ninth inning.

Jake Harvey had another strong game at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a walk. First year transfer Omar Veloz came in at catcher late in the game and went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI.

Matthew Sox earned the win for Utah, pitching just 0.2 innings while not allowing a hit or a run. Kyle Luckham picked up the loss after tossing five innings and giving up five earned runs.

The Titans are back in action this weekend for a three-game road series against San Diego beginning Friday Feb. 26.
