AUSTIN, Texas – The Titans (4-10) led by one run until the bottom of the seventh inning when Texas (11-3) scored six runs to eventually take the opening game of the series 6-1 Friday night at Disch-Falk Field.
The Titans got on the board first in the top of the fifth inning as Kameron Guangorena recorded an RBI single to left field, driving in Jackson Lyon from second. Guangorena has now hit RBI singles in back-to-back games for the first time this season.
Tanner Bibee was phenomenal for the Titans. After giving up a leadoff walk to start the game, Bibee then retired 16 consecutive batters until giving up his first hit of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Bibee gave up four runs in the seventh inning before exiting the game. He pitched 6.1 innings, allowing just four hits but giving up the four spot in the seventh.
Zach Lew drew a walk in the fifth inning to extend his on-base streak to 25 consecutive games going back to last season. Miguel Ortiz recorded the team's first hit of the game, and has now reached base in seven consecutive games.
Fullerton looks to even up the series Saturday afternoon as Kyle Luckham gets the start on the bump. First pitch for Saturday's game has been changed to 10:00 a.m. PT / 12:00 p.m. CT.
