FULLERTON, Calif. – With the 2020 season right around the corner, the Titans prepare to reclaim dominance in the Big West Conference and return to the NCAA Tournament.

Titans fans have plenty of reasons to be excited about heading into the 2020 season with a revamped coaching staff in Sergio Brown, Dan Ricabal and Andy Jenkins. Fullerton also brings in a stacked group of 15 newcomers with 11 freshmen and four transfers.  Fans got to see the first glimpse of the new Titans at the annual alumni game where freshman pitchers Gavin Kennedy, Peyton Jones and Evan Adolphus showed the future is bright on the mound.

While the Titans did miss out on the postseason in 2019, the team is primed for a strong comeback season in 2020 after missing the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1991. Following the Titans missing the postseason in 1991, the team was right back where they belong in 1992, playing for the national championship in Omaha.

In 2019 the Titans had their ups and downs on the mound with a very young pitching staff. Freshman and sophmores pitched 369.8 innings of the 468 total innings thrown last year. 2020 will see a much more experienced staff take the mound with starters such as Michael Knorr, Joe Magrisi and Kyle Luckham having another year of experience under their belt along with relievers Titus Groeneweg, Michael Weisberg. The Titans only lost two pitchers from last year's squad in Gavin Velasquez and Jimmy Endersby who threw a combined 47.1 innings.

D1 Baseball, Perfect Game and the Big West Preseason Coaches Poll all picked Cal State Fullerton to win the conference. D1 Baseball also ranks Tanner Bibee as the No. 4 prospect in the conference for the 2020 MLB Draft while Michael Weisberg is ranked No. 7 and Brett Borgogno is ranked No. 11.

The publication also looks at this year's impact freshman with five of the 10 coming from Cal State Fullerton as JJ Cruz, Gavin Kennedy, Peyton Jones and Cameron Repetti rank No. 2 through No. 5 with Miguel Ortiz coming in at No. 10 on the list.

In addition to Perfect Game picking the Titans to win the Big West Conference, they have also tabbed Repetti to win conference freshman of the year.

As usual, the Titans have a tough nonconference schedule as they play three top-20 teams in No. 17 Stanford, No. 14 UCLA and No. 9 Arizona State along with a difficult road series against the University of Texas.

Fullerton opens up the regular season with a road series against No. 17 Stanford on Feb. 14 at Sunken Diamond with first pitch for Friday night's game scheduled for 6:05 p.m. PT.

The Titans first home game of the 2020 season is Friday, Feb. 21 as Tulane comes to Goodwin Field for a three-game series.
