FULLERTON, Calif. – Heading into the 2020 season, D1 Baseball has ranked Kameron Guangorena as the No. 15 catcher in the nation, the publication announced Wednesday.
As a freshman, Guangorena hit .261 at the plate with a .325 OBP and a .341 slugging percentage to go along with 26 RBI and 10 extra base hits. Guangorena looks primed for a breakout season, showing why he was such a highly touted prospect coming out of high school.
Coming out of St. John Bosco, Guangorena was ranked as the No. 6 catcher in the country and the best in the state of California. Following his outstanding high school career, the La Mirada native was drafted in the 36th round of the MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays before ultimately deciding to attend Cal State Fullerton.
Fullerton opens up the regular season with a road series against Stanford on Feb. 14 at Sunken Diamond with first pitch for Friday night's game scheduled for 6:05 p.m. PT.
The Titans first home game of the 2020 season is Friday, Feb. 21 as Tulane comes to Goodwin Field for a three-game series.
