Titans Put Forth Strong Showing in Final Fall Game

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton wrapped up its fall schedule with a strong showing Friday night against UC San Diego at Goodwin Field. 

The Titans took the first nine inning game by a score of 3-2. Kyle Luckham showed of his talents at the plate and on the mound as he went 2-for-3 with a double while closing out the game on the mound. 

Newcomer Gavin Kennedy started the game on the mound for the Titans and went two innings, allowing just a single hit while recording four strikeouts. Kennedy gave up a triple to start the game but kept his composure and was able to work his way out of the jam. 

Michael Knorr and Matthew Sanchez each tossed a scoreless inning while recording three strikeouts and two strikeouts, respectively. Freshman Peyton Jones stepped on the mound for two innings late in the game and didn't allow a single hit in his Goodwin Field debut. 

Fullerton dominated the second game of the night, winning 5-0 in a five inning contest. First-year transfer from L.A. Mission College, Andrew Scheinert, had an impressive debut, going 2-for-2 at the dish with two RBI. 

Freshman Cameron Repetti also picked up two RBI in the game on a single to left field to give the Titans an early lead in the first inning. Jeff Pellegrino record a triple in his only at-bat of the game and was able to score a run on the play on a throwing error for an unofficial inside the park home run. 

The Titans only allowed one hit in five innings as Landon Anderson pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts, followed by another two scoreless innings with three strikeouts from Joe Magrisi before Brady Barcellos finished off the game with an easy 1-2-3 inning. 

After finishing off its final fall game, the Titans now set their sights on the regular season as they head to Palo Alto to face Stanford for the opening series in just three months.
