Pavletich's Three-Run Home Run in the Ninth Lifts Titans Over CSUN

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Trailing by three runs heading into the ninth inning, Cal State Fullerton rallied to score six runs in the top of the inning to take a 13-10 lead it would not relinquish.

The Titans led by three runs heading into the bottom of the eighth inning before CSUN rallied to score six runs to take a 10-7 lead. Fullerton didn't give, coming back to score four runs in the top of the ninth inning to take the lead right back.

Kameron Guangorena started the inning with a leadoff double before drove him in with a RBI single. Following a walk by Jairus Richards, Jacob Pavletich hit a three-run home run to give the Titans the lead.

After back-to-back hit by pitches, Hank LoForte hit a double to give the Titans two insurance runs. Fullerton hit a total of four home runs Friday to set a season-high. 

Dillon Brown come on in the bottom of the ninth inning and gave up just one hit on his way to picking up his third save of the season. Matthew Sanchez picked up his second win of the season to move to 2-0.

After giving up two early runs in the first inning, the Titans got on the board in the third inning on an RBI single up the middle by Isaiah Garcia to score Mitchell Berryhill. Fullerton then tied the game in the fourth inning on a solo home run from Zach Lew, his second home run of the season.

Garcia came up big again in the fifth inning with a double down the left field line to score Hank LoForte and give the Titans the lead at the time. Garcia has a team-high 38 RBI this season which ranks tied for 10th in the Big West.

CSUN take the lead right back in the bottom of the fifth inning with two runs. However, the Titans came right back to tie the game in the seventh on a solo home to left field by Brett Borgogno, his third home run of the season.

Fullerton opened up the game in the top of the eighth on three-run home run from Lew for his second of the game and third of the season. Richards started the inning with a leadoff walk before Jake Pavletich singled to advance him to third, setting up runners on the corners for Lew. Lew set a new career-high with four RBI on the day

Tanner Bibee started the game on the mound for the Titans and went five innings, giving up eight hits and four earned runs. Jimmy Endersby come on in relief in the sixth and pitched 1.2 innings, allowing just two hits. Titus Groeneweg pitched 0.1, giving up two earned runs before Michael Weisberg came on and pitched 0.2 inning while allowing four earned runs.

The Titans return for the final game of the season Saturday afternoon looking to clinch the series and finish the season with a record above .500. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m. PT.
