Box Score

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton (16-21, 4-6) recorded the same amount of hits as UC Irvine (27-9, 9-4) but were unable to drive in the runs as they fell to the Anteaters 7-3 Friday night at Goodwin Field.

Mitchell Berryhill continued his impressive on-base streak and has now reached base safely in 46 consecutive games dating back to the 2018 season. Berryhill has the longest active streak in the country and is third in on-base streaks that carried into this season.

Berryhill went 3-for-3 with one walk, a run and a RBI Friday night and now has a .455 batting average which leads the entire country. If the senior can keep his batting average above .440 he would set a program record for highest batting average in a single season.

Tanner Bibee picked up the loss in his 11th start of the season to move to 5-6 on the year. Titus Groeneweg looked good in relief as he went three innings while allowing just one hit. Dillon Brown pitched one inning and gave up just one hit before Matthew Sanchez finished the ninth inning, allowing no hits.

Andre Pallante earned the win for UC Irvine to move to 7-3 this season. Pallante pitched seven innings, giving up eight hits and two earned runs while walking four batters. Taylor Rashi picked up his 10th save of the season after getting the final two outs of the game.

Fullerton returns to action Saturday for the second game of the three-game series against UC Irvine with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Goodwin Field.
