Titans Score Season-High 13 Runs in Win Over New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – In the final game of the three-game series against New Mexico, the Titans (6-7) recorded a season-high 21 hits to defeat the Lobos 13-7 Sunday afternoon.

With the win the Titans are now 4-0 on Sunday's this season. The team's 13 runs Sunday is also a season-high to go along with the season-high in hits.

Fullerton scored multiple runs in five different innings, including three consecutive innings with multiple runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh.

Isaiah Garcia had a big part in the Titans season-highs in both runs and hits as he went 2-for-4 with three RBI and three runs including a double and a home run. Garcia blasted a two-run homer to left center-field in the seventh to break the tie and put the Titans up 9-7.

The Titans broke the game open in the ninth inning, scoring four insurance runs to give the defence a six run cushion. Jake Pavletich, Brett Borgogno, Hank LoForte and Garcia all recorded RBI in the ninth. Pavletich went 2-for-5 with a tied for season-high three RBI with one run. Pavletich has a team-high 11 RBI on the season.

For the second straight game the Titans got on the board first, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning on a double up the middle from Daniel Cope to drive in Hank LoForte and Sahid Valenzuela.

LoForte started the inning off with a leadoff single to left-field to extend his on-base streak to a remarkable 58 consecutive games, which is the longest active streak in the nation. LoForte went 3-for-6 with two RBI and a run in the final game of the series. For the season he is hitting .364 with a .410 on-base percentage.

Valenzuela followed up LoForte with a double to right-field to put runners on second and third with one out to set up Cope's two RBI single. Valenzuela went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a run.

After allowing four runs in the third inning and one in the fourth, giving New Mexico a 5-2 lead, the Titans came back in the fifth with answer, scoring two runs to bring the score within one.

A pair of freshman in Kameron Guangorena and Jason Brandow got the momentum going in the fifth with singles to start the inning. LoForte later hit into a fielder's choice to score one before Berryhill singled up the middle to add a second.

Guangorena had a great weekend against the Lobos, going 5-for-7 with three runs and a RBI including going 2-for-2 with a run Sunday. Brandow finished off the series with a strong game as well, recording a career-high three hits in the game, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and run.

The Titans return to Goodwin Field to host USC in a mid-week matchup Tuesday with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m. PT.
