NEW YORK -- Cal State Fullerton had five more players selected on the third and final day of the 2018 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Wednesday.

Junior Brett Conine was taken as the 342nd overall pick in the 11th round by the defending World Series Champion Houston Astros. Junior Ruben Cardenas was the only Titan hitter taken in the draft going as the 493rd overall pick in the 16th round by the Cleveland Indians. Redshirt sophomore Erik Cha went as the 514th overall pick in the 17th round to the Minnesota Twins. Junior Tommy Wilson was the 560th overall pick in the 19th round by the New York Mets. And last, but not least, junior Blake Workman was taken as the 669th overall pick in the 22nd round to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

This marks the fourth time in five years that seven or more Titans were taken in the MLB Draft and it's the third consecutive year it has happened.

Brett Conine has been lights out in the back of the Fullerton bullpen for the last two seasons. This year, he is 4-1 on the season with 10 saves throwing 38.2 innings sporting a 9.78 K/9.

Ruben Cardenas has battled through injuries in previous seasons but bounced back big for the Titans this season hitting .297 and leading the team with a .440 slugging percentage. He also leads the team with 12 stolen bases and ranks top three in just about every other offensive category.

Erik Cha has not seen much time on the mound this year but has been effective in all of his appearances. In his nine appearances, he's thrown 9.1 innings with a 3.86 ERA.

Tommy Wilson has been dominant in his first year as a Titan. The junior transfer joined the weekend rotation about midway through the season and has been stellar throwing 82.2 innings and posting a 2.83 ERA which is second-best on the team. He made his postseason debut at Stanford going six quality innings only allowing one run and striking out six Cardinal.

Blake Workman was the final Titan taken in the draft and has been the ultimate utility pitcher for Fullerton over the last two seasons. From making spot-starts to coming in for a save, the right-hander threw 56.2 innings picking up four wins and five saves. His 10.64 K/9 led the team and his 3.02 ERA was third-best on the staff.

For Cardenas, this is the second time he has been selected in the MLB Draft after going in the 37th round to the Miami Marlins back in 2015. He is the only one of the five Titans taken on day three to have been previously drafted.
