FULLERTON, Calif. – Tyler Lasch provided the dramatic game-winning double in the seventh, while Blake Workman put together an inspiring performance in relief, lifting the Titans to a 2-1 victory over Long Beach State, Saturday evening at Goodwin Field.

For Fullerton (9-11) the win evens up the series, while the crowd of 2,222 was a season-high. The Titans head into Sunday in position to win their third series over their last four.

Daniel Cope began the seventh with a base knock to right field with the game tied at 1-1. Then Lasch came through with the moment of the game. Long Beach State (9-14) catcher Chris Jimenez dropped a pop fly in foul territory, which should of retired Lasch, but instead one pitch later, Lash ripped a double right field, brining Cope all the way home from first base to give Fullerton the 2-1 advantage.

Overall Cope went 1-for-4 with a run scored, while Lasch picked up a knock and an RBI. Jairus Richards picked up a hit and scored a run, while Zach Weisz earned a double. Mitchell Berryhill checked in with an RBI.

Tommy Wilson pitched will in just his second career start, as he surrendered just one earned run on seven hits, while fanning three. Workman was superb in relief, as he earned the win, while giving up just two hits and striking out a career-high six batters.

Scoring came at a premium in this one, as the 49ers scored their only run on a wild pitch in the third inning. However their lead didn't last long, as Fullerton came right back with a manufactured run in the bottom of the frame.

Richards led the inning off, beating out an infield single. Two batters later, Weisz came through with a rocket double down the right field line to put runners at the corners with just one out. Berryhill then drove Richards home from third base, thanks to an RBI groundout.

The game stayed tied at 1-1 until the seventh, where Fullerton grabbed the lead and didn't look back.

The Titans and 49ers will decided the series tomorrow at 1 pm PT.
