IRVINE, Calif.--- Cal State Fullerton sophomore Blake Workman (Ramona, Calif./Ramona HS) threw a career-high 6.0 innings of scoreless baseball in relief to garner the Big West Baseball Pitcher of the Week award, the league office announce on Monday.
It marks the first time Workman has received the honor, while it's the fourth time a Titan pitcher has garnered the award this season
With the score tied 2-2 against UC Irvine, Workman kept the Anteaters off the scoreboard from the seventh through 12th innings and allowed the Titans to eventually win in 14 on a wild pitch on Saturday night.
Workman allowed just two hits, walked two and struck out a career-high tying five for his longest stint as a Titan, eclipsing the 4.0 innings he hurled on two previous occasions earlier in the season.
The right-hander's effort helped the Titans earn their 15th straight home win – the most by the program since 2009.
